ONE GOOD THROW?  YOU SAY. WHERE ON EARTH DID THAT COME FROM.  I'll tell you. When I was in my teens I was into sport and my main interests were basketball, baseball and soccer.  However, in my baseball season I had a wonderful experience.  I was chosen to play on a selected Victoria team to play a visiting Japanese baseball team.  Our one only game was played in the Royal Athletic Park in Victoria.  I generally played two positions when called upon to do so.  Sometimes as 'shortstop' and others as 'centre field'.
On this occasion I was playing Centre Field.  At one point in the game a fly ball was popped into just behind 2nd base.  I ran in to catch it.  Some of you sports types will recall Joe DiMaggio.  Remember he went on to marry Marilyn Munroe the blonde sexy actress.  Anyhow at one time in Joe's career he caught a ball just behind 2nd base while there was a runner on third base.  The baseball rule is that you can't leave 3rd base for home until the ball has been caught.  After DiMaggio caught the ball he immediately threw it to home plate to put the player out who was running in from 3rd.  It was quite an outstanding play.
Back to my story - I ran in to catch my fly ball and remembering the great DiMaggio play, I tried to do the same thing.  I could feel my young arm go OUCH!! at the shoulder as I flung with all my might, but   so anxious and hurried was I that my pitch drew the catcher off the plate and the runner coming in from 3rd was able to slide in under the tag.  But HELL! it was my one good throw.  The 'good throw' that to this day is just that.  When I want to chase crows screeching from my garden trees I am only good for one good chuck of a rock, and ouch!  that's it.
So there you are, that's the story and I now apply the title to my life.  I have had one good throw at life and accepted the consequences.  Hasn't been bad at all. I would say I have "batted" well above 500 in my life's experiences.
